REGISTRATIONAdmission forms are attached to the Prospectus. You are expected to complete the forms and return them to the School Office while you retain the Prospectus with you. Teachers and Minders are on duty from 7.00am to receive the children. Late coming is highly discouraged. The closing time is 12:30 for Nursery, Transition - Primary 1:30, Crèche 12:30 half day, full day 5pm.FEESFees should be paid before resumption and the slips showing evidence of payment should be brought to the school cashier.ASSESSMENTAt Spring Valley, children are continuously assessed. For the under 6s, the assessment is based on the desirable learning outcomes as derived from the six areas of learning to which the curriculum is organized. These areas of learning include:1. Personal & Social Development 2. Language & Literacy 3. Mathematical Development 4. Knowledge and Understanding the world 5. Physical Development 6. Creative Development The children are engaged in informal tasks that show their level of development and knowledge in each of the areas. DISCIPLINEA great deal will be expected of your child during his/her first year at school. He/She will learn to come to terms with the social discipline of school and classroom and exercise a degree of self control. In order to create a conducive learning environment, the children must learn to consider other people, to listen, speak, think and move around in a disciplined manner.COMMUNICATIONAt Spring Valley, we do our best to establish clear lines of communication and to keep parents informed of activities at school and the progress of their children. Please make use of the communication book.ILLNESSPlease do not send your child to school if he/she is ill. A child should be kept at home to recover fully before he/she is sent back to school. If the child takes ill at school, the parents will be contacted if need be.LUNCHAt spring valley school, Lunch time is supervised. Hygiene and good health habit are encouraged to inculcate good table manners.UNIFORMSThe children are expected to come to school in their appropriate uniform with handkerchief pinned on their breast pocket. Check on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, P. E. on Wednesday & Adire on Friday. |
PERSONAL ITEMAs we cannot take responsibility for loss or damage of personal belongings, we do not encourage children to bring toys or any other such personal belongings to school.INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGYThe children will be introduced to basic computer skills and appropriate software.BOOKSParents are expected to procure all books from the school bookshop. This is to encourage uniformity in the books they use.LIBRARYThe school has a Library where children can borrow books. This is to inculcate the habit of reading in them. Please encourage your child to read at home. The books should be returned back to the School Library every week. In case of lose or damage, the books will be paid for by the pupils.CURRICULUMEnhanced curriculum; the curriculum is standard and broad based (Nigerian/British).TERMThere are three terms in the academic year at Spring Valley School The first is called Ember term, the second is known as the Lent term and the third is referred to as Trinity term.Assembly starts at 7:45 am. Please endeavor to bring your child to school early. Late comers will be sent back. SAFETYFor the safety of the children, any person who has not been introduced to us will not be allowed to pickup your child.Assignments are given on a daily basis. Always go through your child's work and sign in the communication book. Some assignments/ projects will require your assistance, eg. news highlights, cutting and posting items etc. We are counting on your support. The communication book is for communication between the school and the parents. Your child should always bring it to school. ACTIVITIESP.E. days are every Wednesdays. P.E Uniform should be worn with white socks and canvas. Swimming days are every other Friday if the weather is favourable. The children are expected to come with all swimming gears. All items must be marked with the child's name.EXCURSION/OPEN DAYThe date and place for excursion will be communicated to you.SUGGESTION BOXPlease make use of the suggestion box by the gate. Let us know areas that we are doing well and areas we need to improve upon. |
